Karobar — Home Services Marketplace
A two-sided marketplace connecting customers with local service providers in Kabul, matched by real geolocation instead of personal networks.
Problem
Finding a reliable home-service provider (plumber, electrician, cleaner, etc.) in Kabul relied entirely on personal networks — no centralized way to discover, compare, or book verified local providers.
Solution
Built a two-sided marketplace connecting customers with service providers based on actual proximity, using geolocation matching. Providers register with their location, trade category, and a photo gallery of past work. Customers book through a defined booking-status lifecycle (requested, confirmed, completed), and leave star ratings that automatically recalculate a provider's average rating via a database trigger.
Technology
Flutter (mobile), Next.js (web), Supabase with the PostGIS extension for geospatial queries, Supabase Storage for provider photo galleries, Framer Motion for the web UI.
Result
Launched to production on Vercel with a complete visual redesign, full booking lifecycle, and admin panel. Solved the geolocation-matching problem specifically with PostGIS rather than a bolt-on third-party maps API, keeping the entire stack in one platform.
